This eagle was sitting in a tree on the side of a bluff just below me at Starved Rock and finally launched out and floated over the Illinois River, looking for fish coming through the dam. Eagles gather there in January and February, when the ponds and lakes freeze around the midwest. They are living examples of the raptor family and a great study in survival over the centuries.
