Starting on Friday, February 22, 37 hearty folks braved the cold to jump in Lake Michigan 24 times over 24 hours at Northwetern University's North Beach in Evanston. The SUPER Plunge, where Some Unbelievable Plungers Enter Repeatedly, is the kick off for the 2013 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge season. The SUPER Plungers each raised at least $2,500 for Special Olympics. The SUPER Plunge event culuminated with the Evanston Plunge on Saturday, when more than 250 jumped in the lake to raise funds for 19 sports events so that qualified athletes can participate around the state.
