Wildflowers

This was one of the yards we walked through in the 2010 Michael J Fox Foundation Garden Walk in Naperville, IL, to benefit Parkinson's Disease research. This home, at 612 Staunton Road, is called Prairie Sun and is designed to look like a wild prairie. There are 8 solar panels and 100 species of savanna, dry prairie, and desert plants on the roof. There are over 340 species of native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, prairie grasses, sedges and wetland plants in the 1/3 acre lot. Notice how the petals on this particular variety of brown-eyed-susans push up to the sun instead of drooping down?
