The Guggenheim

The Guggenheim

This museum in New York City is a work of art in itself, and one of four museums around the world managed by the Guggenheim Foundation. The gallery spirals up to a skylight that lights the atrium area but leaves the art niches and exhibits in shadow. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the building and it has been criticized for overshadowing the modernist art it was designed to showcase. It was his last major design and is generally described as "the most important piece of art in the collection".
