Black Hawk

Lorado Taft's statue to honor the Sac leader Black Hawk stands 48 feet high on a 75 foot bluff overlooking the Rock River just north of Oregon, Illinois. It was dedicated in 1911 in what is now the Lowden State Park, which has extensive camping facilities and lots of woods to wander around as well as access to fishing on the river. The best views of the statue are actually from the west side of the river, at the Maxson Riverboat and Restaurant.
