Waimea Canyon

Waimea Canyon

The colors in Waimea Canyon in Kauai are spectacular. It is called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and it is grand. The story is that Samual Clemens gave it the name but he didn't actually see it. In those days, it was took a couple of days to get to the rim, hiking up some pretty tough mountains through a jungle. Apparently Mark Twain stayed at the hotel and sent an assistant to look at it and that was how he described it.
